
MP Patrick Brown, on behalf of the Minister of Canadian Heritage, is pleased to announce two grants totaling $24,000. for the City of Barrie.
The City of Barrie and the Downtown Business Improvement Area (BIA) will be receiving a ‘Celebrate Canada’ grant in the amount of $14,000.00 for Canada Day and Promenade Days celebrations. The City will receive an additional $10,000.00 for the evening fireworks display and entertainment on Canada Day.
“The ‘Celebrate Canada’ grant will fund the children’s stage, fun zone, arts and crafts, petting zoo and my personal favourite – the birthday cake.” said MP Brown. “All Barrie residents are invited to come and join in the fun and celebrate Canada’s 142nd birthday” he added.
"Celebrating Canada Day is a tradition for Canadians across the country. I hope everyone has the opportunity to celebrate with family and friends and takes a moment to remember the sacrifices made by our Canadian Forces for us and this great country." said Mayor Dave Aspden.
“The Celebrate Canada grant provides us the opportunity to transform Downtown Barrie into a special place and have a great family focused Canada Day celebration that is accessible to all.” said Craig Stevens, Managing Director, BIA.
Promenade Days is a celebration held in downtown Barrie in conjunction with the City of Barrie on the Canada Day weekend.
