Government of Canada Invests in Motorcycle Mojo Magazine

BARRIE, Ontario – On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Patrick Brown, Member of Parliament (Barrie), today announced funding for Riptide Resources, the publisher of Motorcycle Mojo Magazine.

“A strong periodical sector contributes to our economy and allows Canadian stories, opinions, and perspectives to be told and heard,” said Minister Moore. “Financial support provided by the Canada Periodical Fund fosters new developments in the industry and contributes to diversity of content.”

“Riptide Resources enables Canadians to discover new voices and access Canadian content on a number of subjects,” said Mr. Brown. “Our Government is proud to help magazines like Motorcycle Mojo that speak to Canadians’ interests and passions.”

This funding will help Riptide Resources update and redesign the magazine, increase its appeal to a larger demographic, and implement social media tools to interact with readers.

“As a Canadian magazine we greatly appreciate the opportunities that Canadian Heritage programs have offered us, which have helped us to grow and overcome obstacles,” said Gwen Roberts, Secretary-Treasurer of Riptide Resources. “We have advanced in our industry, are now offering both print and an interactive digital publication which can be viewed worldwide, and have hired additional staff to accommodate our growth. We look forward to continued success and development in the future.”

The Government of Canada has provided funding of $20,400 through the Business Innovation component of the Canada Periodical Fund. The Fund invests in periodicals like this one to help increase the overall health of the Canadian magazine and non-daily newspaper industries. The Business Innovation component encourages innovation to adapt to changing market conditions and contributes to the diversity of content sought by Canadian readers.
