Conservative Action Strengthening Canadian Economy
October 22, 2009
![]() On Wednesday, Prime Minister Stephen Harper addressed the Canadian Chamber of Commerce to talk about our Conservative government’s action to strengthen the economy. Through Canada’s Economic Action Plan, our Conservative government is delivering targeted investments in infrastructure that is helping to stimulate businesses and create new jobs. At the same time, we are acting to improve support for families and workers by extending Employment Insurance benefits and creating special assistance for long-tenured workers who have been hit hard by the global recession. We’re also putting more dollars back in Canadians pockets by cutting income taxes at all levels. While our recovery is not yet fully realized, we have seen signs that the economy is improving:
But Canada is not yet out of the woods. Our Conservative government is continuing to deliver Canada’s Economic Action Plan. Just as we were dragged into the global recession through no fault of our own, our recovery is subject to forces beyond our borders as well. Canadians can be proud of the action our government is taking to support families, protect and create jobs and strengthen Canada’s economy. |
