
Statement by the Prime Minister of Canada on the closing of the 2010 Commonwealth Games

Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued the following statement at the closing of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India: “Canadians are very proud of the stellar performance of our athletes and coaches at the XIX Commonwealth Games in India. Their courage, success and good sportsmanship have thrilled and inspired fellow citizens from coast to coast to coast. “The medals they are bringing back – 26 gold, 17 silver and 32 bronze – are a tribute to their strength and dedication. “On behalf of all Canadians, I congratulate the entire 2010 Canadian Commonwealth Games team and thank them for providing such exciting moments in sport.” |
