Conservative Government Invests $20 million in Georgian Centre for Health and Wellness through Knowledge Infrastructure Plan

Barrie –MP Patrick Brown reports that the Conservative Government’s investment in the Georgian College’s Centre for Health and Wellness is well underway and moving towards completion for fall enrolment.

As part of the Conservative Government’s ‘Knowledge Infrastructure Program’, the Conservative’s have invested $20 million in Barrie’s Georgian Centre for Health and Wellness.

“The investment created jobs for people in Barrie at a critical time, while improving infrastructure that Georgian College will need to maintain its reputation as an innovative leader,” said MP Brown. “Our government’s support for the knowledge economy has not only made a difference in the short term, but also set the foundation for future prosperity.”

The investment will generate 158 additional full-time jobs at the college and 239 part-time positions.  In the short term, the creation of new jobs will provide significant economic stimulus to the City of Barrie.

The investment will allow enrolment to grow by 1,800 diploma and degree health sciences students.  “This investment will provide highly-qualified, locally trained health care professionals to meet the urgent need of our growing community and hospital,” said MP Brown
