Federal Government funding for Barrie’s Olympic Torch Relay Celebration
September 10, 2009
MP Patrick Brown, on behalf of the Minister of State for Sport Gary Lunn, is pleased to announce a grant of $15,000 for the City of Barrie. The City will be receiving the funds for Barrie’s Olympic Torch Relay Celebration. The Torch will be coming through Barrie on December 29, 2009. "The Olympics are a unique opportunity for all Canadians to come together in support of our athletes. This $15,000 is a terrific way to start the celebrations with the torch run in Barrie”, said MP Brown. City of Barrie Councillor and Olympic Torch Committee chair, Rod Jackson added, "We really appreciate the continued support of the Federal Government. Without this money, we wouldn’t be able to host what we hope will be a special gathering. We encourage all Barrie citizens to join us on December 29th to help promote our great City to the world and showcase our outstanding community spirit.” For further details please contact the Office of MP Patrick Brown at 726-5959 |
