Honda Barrie Half Marathon
August 14, 2011

On Sunday August 14th 2011, MP Patrick Brown hosted the inaugural Barrie Waterfront Half Marathon where nearly $20,000 was raised for the Royal

Victoria Hospital and $5,000 for Talk is Free Theatre! The race consisted of a 21km Half Marathon with a 10.5 km relay and 5 km option. The route followed along Barrie’s waterfront from south shore to north shore and back. 600 race participants received a complimentary Barrie Waterfront Half Marathon T-shirt as well as a medal for taking part in this great event.

In addition to raising funds for RVH, the race aimed to promote a healthy

active lifestyle within Barrie as well as showcase our beautiful lakefront to

outside visitors. With the support of community members and businesses alike, this event has become another annual tradition that puts Barrie and our waterfront on the map. I want to send special thanks to our sponsors Honda Canada, Red Bull and the Barrie Advance. See you next year.” – MP Patrick Brown
