MP Patrick Brown provides grant for the Barrie Fair
August 20, 2008

On behalf of the Federal Government, M.P. Patrick Brown is pleased to announce a $7,500.00 grant for the 2008 Barrie Fair. The Barrie Fair has evolved over the past years from a small annual summer fair to a large scale carnival hosting over 400 events and with an attendance of more than 200,000 people. The fair will feature agricultural displays and exhibits, a concert open to the public and will also showcase local talent. It will provide an opportunity for social groups and service clubs to reach their fundraising goals through participation in the fair as well as through stand alone events.

“This year’s Fair will be particularly special to Barrie residents as it will be the final one held since its debut in 1948, at the Barrie fairgrounds. The federal government is proud to make this contribution to an event that has become a part of our heritage” said M.P. Patrick Brown.
